10th French Olympic Sports week

The event brings together the best of the French winter sportsmen during
the 10th French Olympic Sports week that will be held for the first time
at Courchevel designed to help foster a team spirit within the French
Olympic team.
"Les Sommets de l'Image" Exhibitions

The aim of this unique and original exhibition is to increase public awareness
of the necessity to safeguard the exclusive diversity of our natural heritage.
When the resort opens in December (6th), a permanent exhibition of bill
boards will feature at the different levels of the resort, promoting the

Edition of "Femmes en Or"

This is an awards ceremony, held on Saturday, December 14 at the Forum
ice-skating rink in Courchevel 1850. The ‘Femmes en Or’ ceremony
traditionally opens Courchevel’s winter season. This event rewards
the exceptional women who have made the news throughout the year. These
women are chosen by the election committee after a great deal of deliberation,
and distinctions are made per section i.e. art, fashion, entertainment,
research, sport and adventure.. Courchevel works alongside the sponsors
of this three-day event to pay a wonderful tribute to the fairer sex.
The ‘Femmes en Or’ ceremony provides an opportunity to highlight
a particular association chaired by a woman. The chairwoman of this association
becomes the ‘Femme de Cœur’. Throughout the year, Courchevel
and its partners organise charitable initiatives to generate funds for

ICE-SKATING GALA

Ice-skating plays a major role in the Courchevel calendar throughout the
year, thanks to the French team’s training sessions and the numerous
international galas. In order to celebrate Christmas, the best skaters
in the world will be putting on a special performance, demonstrating their
artistic and technical prowess in the fairy-tale surroundings of the Courchevel
ice-rink in front of the TV cameras. The Christmas Gala is one of the
biggest events of the winter and attracts major ice-skating stars such
as Brian Joubert, vice-world champion in 2006. Information and tickets

COLUMBIA RIDE WEEK

After 14 years, the traditional Courchevel Free ride event has been replaced
by the Columbia Ride Week and is a week entirely dedicated to free ride
skiing. This free ride event consists of three major highlights: the Movie
Ride Contest, the Teenage’ Contest and the Trade Security Show.
The first event is an international competition for snow-sport films.
Over a period of 5 days, each team, consisting of two riders, a photographer
and cameraman create their images in the ski area. The final day is dedicated
to the editing and production phase, with a presentation of the images
and films in the evening, followed by an awards ceremony. And Courchevel
has not left out the youngsters either, staging a Teenage’ Contest
as well as other free ride events tailored to suit their age. Finally,
the Security Trade Show brings together the different professionals in
the free ride skiing world, such as the manufacturers of safety and ski
equipment as well as the professions linked to the ski area, such as ski-patrollers.

The Coupe de l'Info

Courchevel 1850
The "Coupe de l’Info" (News Cup) is a ski event which
sees the best skiers from news teams in the French and foreign media compete
head to head. The event will take place on Saturday from 1.00pm on the
slalom piste at Courchevel 1850. Skiers and snowboarders will take part
in a parallel slalom.
INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF PYRO-TECHNIC ART

Courchevel already has a strong reputation in the world of fireworks.
After four years of international competitions, this 2007 event will oppose
the four winners of the previous years, i.e.: the French Intermède
team (2003), the Italian Parente team (2004), the Italian Scarpatto team
(2005) and the English Millennium team (2006). The sky of Courchevel will
once again be lit up for another high-quality competition. The fireworks
will be staged in the different villages of Courchevel.
The firework artists use imagination and creativity to delight the 6,000
spectators that attend each display and will be judged by 8 professionals
on very specific criteria, such as respect for timing and the given theme.

Altitude Festival of comedy and music returns
to Meribel in 2009

This season the Altitude Festival will once again offer
big name DJs and bands as well as comedy. The Festival is not an entirely
British affair, however. You can expect comedy talent from Ireland, Australia,
Canada and America. There will be French and bilingual comedy too, and
Méribel Tourist Office is a partner in this year's event.

by French heart surgeon Professor Christian Cabrol and in support of organ

3 VALLEES X-WING RALLY

For its fifth year, the ‘Grand Challenge des 3 Vallées’
has seen a few changes, including the fact that it has now been re-christened
the ‘3 Vallées X-WIng Rally’. The spirit of the event
remains the same, however: lots of family sporting entertainment and a
fun discovery of the 3 Valleys ski area. Whether you choose to cruise
the pistes of the Saulire or the Cîme Caron, come and share an exceptional
day of skiing in the biggest ski area in the world with your family or
friends. This event is open to everyone, including “pros”
(‘Club des Sports’, permit-holders, brand teams etc), sporting
amateurs and of course families. Each category of participants follows
a route consisting of different stages and “specials”.

LA TANIA CHARITY DAY

The massive La Tania Charity Day in aid of Cancer charities in the UK
and France takes place in April every year with fancy dress, live bands,
BBQ, outside bar, raffles, auctions, silly games, Harley Davidson rides,
the annual egg eating competition, the Saisonnaires poll winners and the
mad ski race / procession of floats down La Troika. It all takes place
from 1pm in the centre of resort outside Pub Le Ski Lodge. The money raised
is split between French and British Cancer Charities including Cancer
Research UK the Sebastian's Action Trust and the Ligue Nationale Contre
le Cancer.
